Dick Barry (72) of Mallow has retired from the position of honorary secretary/treasurer of the Munster branch of the GUI after holding office for 21 years.

Barry, who is the only Munster member of the Royal and Ancient at St Andrews, is one of the best known figures in amateur golf administration. He took over from the late Douglas Loane (Cork) in 1966 and has been a member of the Munster branch since 1957.

Sean MacMahon (Adare Manor), formerly honorary match secretary, takes over as honorary secretary while Bernard Hynes (Carrick-on-Suir) is to be the new honorary treasurer. Michael Cashman (Cobh) is honorary match secretary.
