DAVE BASSETT aims to halt the Martin O'Neill juggernaut and chalk up a remarkable seventh career promotion on Wembley's Bank Holiday stage.
Bassett transformed Crystal Palace from relegation candidates to Premiership possibles while O'Neill lifted lethargic Leicester from no hopers to promotion material.
On Monday the two miracle workers will meet in a head to head clash of riding managers with non League backgrounds.
Chirpy cockney Bassett pulled off 14 wins in 22 games with four defeats at Palace, while Leicester gate crashed the play off party with a seven match unbeaten run under O'Neill.
Irishman O'Neil won a Vauxhall Conference championship with Wycombe Wanderers and then established them as a Football League club.
Bassett also started at the bottom and has sampled both sides of the Wembley experience, leads Walton and Hersham to Amateur Cup glory over Slough in 1973 as a powerhouse wing half and managing Sheffield United to FA Cup semi final defeat by rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
"Going to Wembley is a marvellous, great occasion, but we are going there for one reason only and that is to win," growled Bassett.
"When I went with Sheffield United everyone treated it as a bit of a holiday. It was a day out everyone wanted to enjoy. With hindsight I think we should have been a bit more single minded."
Palace have experienced duo Ray Houghton and Nigel Martyn, heroes of the semi final wins over Charlton, to settle their nerves, while Leicester will counter with Garry Parker, Mark Robins and long serving Steve Walsh.
A huge portion of an estimated 70,000 crowd will be there to cheer O'Neill, although many of the same fans called for his head as Leicester appeared to be going nowhere 13 weeks into his reign.
"It was unfair for me to be judged after just 13 weeks, even if some of the football was poor," said O'Neill.
Leicester's Welsh international top scorer Iwan Roberts is fit five weeks after breaking ribs and will probably return as substitute.
Bassett is set to gamble on fourth choice central defender Robert Quinn for only his third full game. The 19 year old player impressed as deputy for injured Leif Anderson in the second leg with Charlton.
Former Chelsea midfielder David Hopkin missed both Charlton matches with a groin strain and will need to train over the weekend with no reaction if he is to be considered.
