Bayern Munich (2) v AC Milan (2):Martin Demichelis will definitely miss Bayern Munich's Champions League quarter-final, second leg against AC Milan tonight while Bastian Schweinsteiger remains a major doubt.

Bayern hold a slight advantage after the first leg ended 2-2 in Milan last week but injury worries are making life difficult for coach Ottmar Hitzfeld as he prepares for the return at the Allianz Arena.

Hitzfeld confirmed the absence of Demichelis, the Argentinian who can play in defence or midfield, at his pre-match news conference.

A decision on attacking midfielder Schweinsteiger, who is struggling with a knee injury, will have to wait until a few hours before kick-off.

"Bastian is highly doubtful," Hitzfeld confirmed. Hasan Salihamidzic, Owen Hargreaves and Lucio have more minor injures and will be available if they come through Bayern's final training session.

Hitzfeld added: "It is about team spirit and we've shown we can step up our game against the biggest teams. We'll see a lot of fight from the Bayern players."

Bayern, chasing a semi-final place for the first time since they won the Champions League in 2001, will be boosted by the return of Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel and goalkeeper and captain Oliver Kahn, who were suspended for the first leg.

AC Milan must win, or score at least three goals in a scoring draw, to go through to the semi-finals. Coach Carlo Ancelotti knows his side will be up against it and believes the home side are the favourites to progress.

"Munich are stronger at home and they will have the advantage of their fans," he said. "It would have been better if it had been the other way around and we were at home in the second leg."

Last season, Milan used such an advantage in the last 16 to demolish the Bavarians 4-1 in the second leg at the San Siro after a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena. Bayern have never knocked Milan out of the competition - the closest they came was in 1990 when they lost on away goals.

Since being docked eight points at the start of the Serie A season, Milan have made no secret of their intention to win the Champions League.

They are only fifth in the league at present and, having put all their eggs in one basket, Ancelotti's side must now deliver in Europe or the coach could find his position in danger.

Striker Filippo Inzaghi is set to return with Alberto Gilardino suspended and Ronaldo cup-tied. He has been training for a while and it is not too early for him to return," added Ancelotti.
