Bellaghy from Derry collected their second Beamish Stout Kilmacud Crokes football sevens title in Glenalbyn on Saturday.
The event was dominated by the Ulster contingent, with seven teams from the province making it through to the last eight. Holders Tuam, along with the hosts, did not make it through to the latter stages.
An all-Ulster final looked on the cards after Bellaghy had easily seen off Clonduff in the first semi-final. But the other pairing saw Bryansford of Down denied by Kilmainham Wood with seconds to go after the Bryansford goalkeeper was pulled up for time wasting. From the hop ball, Kilmainham won possession, with Francis Owens scoring the goal that gave Kilmainham a 3-5 to 0-13 win.
Kilmainham's final opponents did not take long to find their feet with a succession of short passes putting Joe Cassidy through for Bellaghy's first goal. By half time they led 4-8 to 1-2, with Gavin Diamond hitting five points from play.
Kilmainham hit three quick goals after the break to leave just seven points between the teams. But Bellaghy held firm.
