Naas CBS ... 14 Newbridge College ... 3: Naas CBS are threatening to win two Leinster junior cups in their first year competing at schools level. Their march continued yesterday at Anglesea Road where centre Shane Bennett's last-minute try insured their passage to the semi-final of the Fr Godfrey Cup.
Scrumhalf Colin O'Brien kicked two penalties in the first half, while his team-mates kept Newbridge scoreless with discipline in defence. This is partly down to their coach, Conor McPhillips, the St Mary's College winger.
In the second half, O'Brien and the Newbridge full back Rob McTernan exchange penalties to leave the game in the balance.
Newbridge, driven on by their number eight David Hearne, were often in sight of the line, but poor handling and no-nonsense Naas tackling kept them at bay. It was left to centre Bennett to send Naas through to a semi-final meeting with Skerries Community College.
