In what could well be the last time they will be represented in the competition, Ballinascorney received a timely boost last week when they won the Best Cup for the first time - beating Powerscourt 4-3 in the final played at Malahide.

In the final, the match was tied at three matches each with Trevor Spendlove and Danny Ryan of Ballinascorney all square with Paul McElearney and Kieran Ryan with three holes to play. However the Ballinascorney pair holed two vital putts on the 16th and 17th for a 2 and 1 win.
