AIDEEN ROGERS and Maureen Madill were the best of the three Irish players following rounds of 74 with Tracy Enkin on 77.
Madill had been one under par after two birdies in an outward run of 36 but dropped four strokes coming home which "were partially balanced with a birdie from five feet at the long followed by another birdie at the 14th hole.
Rogers, who started her round from the 10th tee, immediately ran into problems.
After dropping a shot at her first hole she then went into the lake twice to run up a triple bogey eight at the 11th hole. But Rogers, from The Island Club, played the remaining, holes in a fighting three under.
