The chances of racing going ahead on Punchestown's steeplechase track today were in some doubt yesterday evening but, even so, the betting figures are still likely to be impressive.
Last year's Tote aggregate figure of £445,978 was an all-time course record but with only five races yesterday, the aggregate reached £354,029.
The bookmakers figures were also good in the circumstances with £806,195 in turnover. The busiest race was the bumper where £257,253 was wagered.
After Tuesday's catastrophic weather turned the car parks into something resembling the Somme, the main problem yesterday was long traffic jams which caused some race-goers to turn around and go home.
Ditches were reported to have been broken down by officials to allow customers to park but the queues were still lengthy.
