Dublin City University - 1-9 Dublin University - 0-8:SIGERSON CUP/First Round: Former Dublin forward Ian Robertson made a telling contribution for DCU yesterday in Marino as they fought off a determined challenge from Trinity. With three of the Dublin team that started against Armagh last Sunday, not to mention Paul Casey and Robertson, manager Niall Moyna had plenty to be confident about.
And his team got off to the best possible start when Tomás Quinn netted inside the first five minutes.
Three fine scores from Robertson then took the Glasnevin outfit further ahead, but with Sligo's Kieran Quinn having a fine game at midfield, Trinity were never going to be bowled over. The injury to Quinn's playing partner, Cormac O'Sullivan, after 19 minutes forced Trinity to pull Seán Maguire out of their attack.
Trinity got off to a good start in the second half registering three points without reply, leaving Trinity trailing by 1-6 to 0-7. But DCU half forward John Tierney capped a fine display with the final point of the game.
