Mary Slevin of Temple Golf Club has her sights set on retaining her Shell Ladies Golf Challenge title which she won at Mount Juliet last September. Slevin's task this year, however, will be an even bigger one as the organisers expect more competitors than last year, when 15,000 took part. All golf clubs throughout the country have been invited to nominate one of their singles competitions, to be played before June 11th, as the qualifying event. The leading qualifier from each club will play in one of the 18 regional finals and the three leading scores from these finals will qualify to compete for the Ladies Golf Challenge Trophy in Mount Juliet on August 24th.
