Blackburn are banking on Berg

Sunderland v Blackburn Kick-off: 8

Sunderland v Blackburn Kick-off: 8.0Henning Berg is being tipped to help turn Blackburn's fortunes around after a run of seven games without a win for Graeme Souness' team.

The Norwegian defender is in line to face Sunderland after a four-month absence with an Achilles tendon injury. With Craig Short still troubled by a calf problem, Berg's experience could prove vital at the Stadium of Light.

Blackburn assistant manager Tony Parkes said: "Henning is a leader, he helps other players. Hopefully after the long lay-off he has had, he will come in and put in a performance that will lift the others."

Australia international Lucas Neill is also in contention for a place at the back after a one-match ban. Andy Todd is suspended while Damien Duff and David Dunn also remain sidelined.
