Coventry's Dion Dublin and Blackburn's Jason Wilcox were both sent off in an explosive but inconclusive Premiership clash at Ewood Park yesterday. Dublin was dismissed on the word of a linesman for allegedly catching Rovers defender Colin Hendry with his elbow in the 42nd minute and when Wilcox was also sent off after 69 minutes for stupidly kicking out at the back of substitute Michael O'Neill's legs, the match was destined for the horror category.

Blackburn had dominated the early stages, with Chris Sutton in fine form, but friction and finger wagging spread through both sets of players after Dublin's sending-off. Wilcox's subsequent dismissal levelled up the teams, but it was Blackburn who were pressing for the victory, and Flitcroft and Sutton both had chances to claim the points.
