These two teams served up another fine contest, with Blackrock College just about doing enough to earn their place in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup decider.
It was second time the schools had met in the space of 24 hours and, like Sunday's Senior Cup showdown, this went right down to the wire.
Blackrock opened up a 12point lead with just six minutes gone and it looked like the game was already beyond Terenure's reach.
But Terenure showed tremendous spirit, with Conor Gildea's drop-goal on 53 minutes completing a remarkable comeback to put his team 13-12 ahead. The outhalf had a tremendous game, showing pace and guile throughout.
Playing with a stiff breeze in the first half, Blackrock made the most of their advantage and on six minutes went ahead when, following some good work by Daniel Barnett and Niall Madden, David Nyhan popped the ball out to wing forward Diarmuid Laffan who made the short dash over.
A burst by Blackrock full back Micheal Kavanagh set up their second score three minutes later with Madden on the overlap touching down on the left.
Kavanagh added the conversion, but a good spell of pressure from Terenure yielded their first score midway through the first half with Gildea slotting over a penalty.
Gildea then pulled off a masterstroke just on half-time. From a scrum inside the Blackrock 22, he sold a wonderful dummy to cut under the posts and then added the conversion to cut Blackrock's lead to just two points.
Blackrock began the second half well and it took a fine cover-tackle by Gary Byrne to deny Nyhan on 38 minutes. Terenure then went in front for the first and only time when Gildea sent over a drop-goal and it seemed it would be further disappointment for Blackrock.
But they responded well and, with seven minutes remaining, front row Gary Walsh made the line following a series of assaults by the Blackrock pack.
Terenure again countered, but were finally forced to surrender when Madden went over for his second score in injury-time after being released by scrumhalf Andrew Geraghty.
