A neat move down the right involving Conor O'Grady and Adam Hughes culminated in the latter jinking past goalkeeper Keith Gallagher before pulling back for striker Paul McTiernan to tuck home from six yards.
Sligo goalkeeper John O'Hara denied Vinny Arkins while Farrelly went close with a deft chip.
Sligo secured full points with 20 minutes to play when McTiernan flicked past Gallagher from close range.
