INTERTOTO CUP Rhyl 2 Bohemians 4 (Bohemians win 9-3 on aggregate):BOHEMIANS EASED their way into the second round of the Intertoto Cup with a comfortable win over Welsh side Rhyl at Belle Vue on Saturday.
After last week's 5-1 hammering, one would have expected Rhyl to keep it tight but six goals during a hectic 17-minute spell before half-time ensured the large travelling support had something to sing about.
Stephen O'Donnell opened the scoring after 28 minutes with a fine finish from Mark Rossiter's through ball. Minutes later it was two; Jason Byrne converting from the spot after Glen Crowe was fouled. Byrne turned provider two minutes later, crossing for Jason McGuinness, who powered a header home.
Rhyl's Mark Connolly then pulled two back, a long-range free deceiving Brian Murphy and the midfielder then capitalising on a dropped ball by the Bohemians goalkeeper.
However, their revival was thwarted when, on the stroke of half time, Harpal Singh combined with O'Donnell and Byrne to curl a low shot into the corner and end any hint of a contest.
