Bohemians - 3 Waterford Crystal - 1: Recently crowned FAI Junior Cup winners Waterford Crystal stunned Bohemians by taking the lead, before the Premier Division side recovered to stumble through to the third round of the senior competition.

A sluggish start by Bohemians gave the small section of disgruntled fans ample ammunition to chant, as they have done in recent weeks, for Gareth Farrelly's dismissal.

It got worse for the Dublin side as they fell behind on 22 minutes to a goal by Joe Watson.

Former Waterford United striker Watson, a member of the Irish Deaf Olympics team, surged down the left before rifling a shot past Matt Gregg with the defence trailing in his wake.

With Kevin Hunt on for the ineffective Mark O'Brien to inject urgency, Bohemians levelled on 36 minutes. Waterford defender Paul Wyse clearly tripped John Paul Kelly, though assistant referee Martin Maloney had to instruct referee Neil Doyle to give the penalty, which Vinny Arkins converted, sending goalkeeper Derek Hearne the wrong way.

The revival was completed three minutes later when Stephen Ward celebrated his return to action following an ankle injury with a well-taken goal, turning on to Des Byrne's low cross to crash a left-footer to the net.

The traffic was very much one-way towards the Waterford goal for virtually the entire second half. Despite their possession, though, Bohemians struggled to kill off Waterford until the 84th minute. Aidan O'Keeffe did well to set up fellow substitute Paul Dunphy and his low drive took a deflection to beat Hearne.
