Bohemians 0 Kildare County 1Bohemians' season descended into farce as they were dumped out of the FAI Cup in the surprise of the third round to emphasise the rebuilding task facing incoming manager Gareth Farrelly.

While Bohemians may have a bit to do to resurrect their season, the night belonged to match-winner Shay Zeller and First Division promotion hopefuls Kildare County who enjoyed the biggest win in their short history.

Despite a glut of chances, it was a curiously low-tempo first half with Kildare's goal on 40 minutes perhaps indicative of a match that lacked excitement, certainly in the first 45 minutes.

It was a calamitous error from Bohemians' point of view, their captain Kevin Hunt uncharacteristically giving the ball away, his poor pass intercepted by the alert Darren McKenna.

McKenna's hack forward provoked a rush from his goal by Shay Kelly. Colin Hawkins then slid in and appeared to handle the ball on the ground in missing a clearance.

An advantage was played by referee Ian Stokes and Zeller rolled the ball into the unguarded net from 25 yards for a bizarre goal.

Stung by the concession of such a comical goal, Bohemians brought more urgency and purpose to their game after half-time.

But despite chances for Hawkins, and point-blank misses from Dominic Foley and Tony Grant, Bohemians couldn't get back on terms and Kildare could even have had a second goal when Zeller hit a crisp volley only for the alert Kelly to make super stop.
