NATIONAL LEAGUE - PREMIER DIVISION/Galway United...1 Bohemians...5: Bohemians kept their outside hopes of European qualification from the league on course as Galway moved a further step closer towards relegation.
Having taken the lead on 29 minutes, Stephen Kenny's side never really looked back as they gave themselves the perfect lift ahead of Sunday's FAI Cup semi-final.
Built from defence, Dave Hill began a flowing move with Mark Dempsey feeding the ball to Dave Morrison. The winger held off the challenge of Nigel Keady to cross and Glen Crowe arrived to head into the roof of the net.
Having put the visitors in front with his 17th goal of the season, Crowe almost added a second for just before the break, but the Galway goalkeeper saved well at the striker's feet.
Morrison stretched Bohemians lead on the hour-mark with a wonderful strike when drilling in off a post after good work by substitute Trevor Molloy.
Galway hit back eight minutes later. Derek O'Brien's ball forward deflected up into the air and Colin Fortune's overhead kick crept in at the far post.
But Morrison helped restore Bohemians' two-goal lead when setting up Molloy for a coolly taken third goal on 74 minutes.
Frustration boiled over for Galway four minutes later when right back Keady was sent of by referee Dick O'Hanlon for kicking out at Mark Rutherford.
Galway then fell apart. Paul Byrne added Bohemians fourth goal in the final minute with a delightful chip from 30 yards, with captain Kevin Hunt getting the fifth two minutes into stoppage-time.
