UCD 1 Bohemians 2:GOALS IN each half from Keith Ward and Danny Corcoran were enough to give Bohemians their second league win of the season at the Belfield Bowl last night.
Bohemians had their noses in front after just nine minutes when a poor David O’Connor clearance was picked up by Ward. The midfielder’s looping shot from the edge of the box gave goalkeeper Mark McGinley no chance.
Corcoran scored Bohemians’ second goal with a magnificent chip shot to the roof of the net on 52 minutes after Davy Byrne created the opening.
Luke Byrne should really have added to the visitors’ tally but fired over from close range after Karl Moore had expertly prised open the College defence on the right.
The Students did have a chance to narrow the gap on 76 minutes only for Chris Lyons to fire in a shot which rebounded off the woodwork with Paul OConor then firing over in a hectic goalmouth scramble.
College did eventually get a consolation goal on 84 minutes when Derek Pender was adjudged to have taken down substitute Robbie Benson inside the box.
Rusk made no mistake with the resulting penalty.
