Racing NewsAllicansayis Wow, prominent in some lists for next year's 1,000 Guineas, will bid to make it two wins from as many starts in the seven-furlong Golden Fleece Stakes at Leopardstown this evening.

The well-regarded Jim Bolger-trained filly looked a smart prospect when justifying strong market support to score by a tidy length and a quarter at the same venue over six furlongs last month.

In what looks sure to prove an informative contest, David Myerscough is convinced his representative, Bruges, is "not there to make up the numbers".

The Kildare trainer believes the Marju colt has improved since making a winning debut over six furlongs at the Curragh four weeks ago.

"Most of the top stables are represented in it and it's only a five-strong field, but I think he'll have a big chance," said Myerscough.

"On the form of his first run he'd be in with a shout, and I believe he's improved since then - he's not there to make up the numbers."

Aidan O'Brien runs Minneapolis, winner of his only start at Gowran Park, while Dermot Weld saddles the course-and-distance victor Going Public.

The only horse in the field not defending a 100 per cent record is Ger Lyons's Remind Me Monday, who was fourth to Pencil Hill at Naas after making a successful debut at Cork in May.

n Peter Chapple-Hyam is oozing a quiet confidence that EpsomDerby winner Authorized will hold his own against his elders and enhance his reputation in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday. Following the Eclipse there will be no rest for Authorized - who will retire to Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud at the end of the year - with an outing at Ascot at the end of the month on the cards.
