Emma Robinson took time off from her studies last week to show that she is back on track following a brief break after Sydney.

Winning the 50 and 100 metres breaststroke in Swansea while preparing for next month's British and world short-course championships was a bonus for her. "Training has been going good for me," says Robinson.

She is anxious to sharpen up on speed prior to next month's big meets in Sheffield and Valencia. To this end she has chosen to swim freestyle whenever the opportunity arises and has even surprised herself by finishing a close second at 50 metres (27.2 seconds) in Swansea.

She joined the elite Irish club of Michelle de Bruin and Gary O'Toole when becoming a finalist in the European long-course championships in Helsinki in June.

She was also a double semi-finalist at the World Championships in Athens and repeated the feat at the Lisbon European short-course championships. Now, she aims to go at least one better in Valencia.

In the season just ended, Robinson had world breaststroke rankings of 20th for 50 metres (short course), 40th for 100 metres (short course) and 26th for 50 metres long course.

Andrew Reid, a World Championships team-mate of Robinson for Valencia (December 14th-17th), gave further evidence of his potential when finishing third in Swansea at 50 metres butterfly.
