Bosnia-Herzegovina caused the biggest shock on a busy night of World Cup qualifying in Europe when had a sensational 30 victory over high flying Denmark in Group One. The Bosnians had the game wrapped up by half-time thanks to Mujcin's 18th minute opener and two penalty's by Bolic.

Meanwhile, Turkey beat Wales 6-4 in an amazing match in Istanbul with Hakan Sukur netting four goals to give the Turks a mathematical chance of reaching the finals from Group Seven. In a topsy-turvy game, Wales produced an astonishing fight-back to come back after Turkey led 2-0 after eight minutes through goals by Hakan and Saffet Akyuzm. But Wales hit back and took the lead when Nathan Blake, Robbie Savage and Dean Saunders scored, but Hakan equalised for Turkey on 37 minutes.

Wales regained the lead on 52 minutes when Ryan Giggs's free kick on the right reached Andy Melville on the far post and the Sunderland defender stabbed the ball into the net from two yards.

Oguz Cetin equalised at 4-4 before Hakan added two more to round off the night's goals and clinch victory. A hat-trick by veteran Toni Polster kept Austria in the hunt in Group Four, after their 3-0 away victory over lowly Estonia in Tallinn. Austria are now just a point behind but have a game in hand over group leaders Scotland. The 33-year-old Polster showed his scoring ability just after the break when he curled a free-kick from 20 yards above the defensive wall into the left corner of the net. Polster's second came after he pounced after a goal-mouth scramble. Then, in the last minutes, he headed in from close range.
