With a round that included 13 pars and three birdies, scratch golfer Gavin McGranaghan of Galway golf club took the best gross prize at the annual Christy O'Connor Junior Oyster society outing to Enniscrone recently.
Played in summery conditions with the course in excellent condition, high scores were the order of the day and local member Jim Bowe (9), with a round of three over, which netted 42 points, made full use of his local knowledge to take the honours. Second place went to 14 handicapper Tom Fitzgerald of Athlone on 39 points, with Tuam's Gerry King in third, also on 39 points.
