Antrim 4-06 UUJ 0-06: The four-goal margin may be a little flattering but Antrim were worthy winners of yesterday's Dr McKenna Cup battle with the University of Ulster Jordanstown at Casement Park.
The students began sharply with points from Down's Shane King and Roscommon's Rory O'Donoghue but once free-taker Peter McCann found the target for Antrim the winners began to take control.
It was 16 minutes into the second half before they snatched their first goal, with Kevin Brady the marksman, and three minutes later the ball was in the Jordanstown net again.
Kevin Madden, just a minute on the field, was hauled down by goalkeeper Ronan Gallagher and Madden coolly slotted home the penalty kick.
On the turn of the hour, Brady got his second goal and then competed his hat-trick in the 69th minute.
