Eamon Brady revived memories of Christy O'Connor's famous finish when winning the Carroll's Interenational at Royal Dublin in 1966. Brady repeated the feat in last week's singles competition when he finished eagle, birdie, birdie to pip Brian Dennis after both returned 43 points. Admittedly, the 18th was played as a par five when O'Connor blazed the trail.

Brady, the recent winner of the West of Ireland championship, continued his good form in scorching around Royal Dublin in a seven-under-par 63 (seven birdies and an eagle) on the yellow course. Brady went to the turn in three-under-par 31 with birdies at the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th after taking a bogey five at the second, and he made the inward journey in four-under 32. After a birdie four at the par five 11th, Brady conceded only his second shot to the course by bogeying the difficult 13th.

However, he was quickly back in the groove with a par at the 15th and finished an excellent round in style with his eagle, birdie, birdie finish. Dennis, after an excellent 23 points to the turn, had to settle for second place when his 20 points on the back nine lost out to Brady's 22.
