Bray Wanderers 0 Galway Utd 1:Alan Murphy scored for the second week running to finally earn Galway United a deserved first win of the season as Bray finished with 10 men.

An entertainingly open first half brought chances aplenty at both ends and what proved the winning goal on 27 minutes.

Bray can have few complaints as negligent defending from start to finish gifted Galway their goal. Ciarán Foley skipped by a couple of half challenges to feed Murphy who turned another defender before his low shot slid through the hands of Chris O'Connor and trickled to the net.

Bray responded and a delightful chip from Alan Cawley bounced over off the crossbar three minutes later.

Then, eight minutes before the break, Bray captain Clive Delaney brought a terrific one-handed save from Gary Rogers with another header from a Cawley corner.

The chances continued to come and Galway's John Russell fired wide across goal and Barry Moran volleyed over before the interval.

The game appeared up for Bray on 54 minutes when midfielder Steven Gough, unluckily booked for encroaching on a quickly taken free-kick in the first half, was dismissed for a late tackle on Foley.

Bray didn't lie down, however, and pressed for much of the remainder of the game.

Deans came closest to levelling on 65 minutes when he brought another really good save from Rogers with a header from Cawley's free-kick before substitute Derek Tyrrell headed narrowly wide late on.
