Bray take UCD scalp

UCD's disappointing season continued its downward spiral as they were knocked out of the Cup by Bray (1-0) at Belfield. The goal that put Bray through, a penalty scored by Kieran O'Brien, was disputed by UCD, but even they couldn't deny that Bray, dominant for long spells, fully deserved their win.

The penalty came after 31 minutes when Robbie Coyle's cross from the left was inadvertently handled by Mick O'Donnell, under pressure from Justin Dutton. O'Brien calmly sent Seamus kelly the wrong way from the spot.

Home Farm progressed courtesy of two goals from the unlikely source of veteran central defender, Brendan Place. They ended Leinster Senior League side Glenmore Celtic's FAI Cup dream with a 2-1 win at Whitehall.

Glenmore gamely fought their way back into a match that seemed to be going totally Home Farm's way. But, having scored the first, Place broke their hearts with a second goal 15 minutes from time to give the Premier Division's bottom club a win they only marginally deserved. Derek Dodd's goal sandwiched Place's effort.
