Malahide CS 1 Clonkeen College 0:MALAHIDE COMMUNITY School claimed their first Umbro FAI Schools Dr Tony O'Neill Leinster senior title yesterday in Lucan despite playing over a half an hour with 10 players.

The blustery conditions at Ballyowen Park meant free-flowing football was scarce and the elements certainly played a part in the winning goal on 17 minutes.

There didn’t look like much danger for Clonkeen when Mark Brennan took possession 35 yards out but the midfielder floated a shot from distance which sailed past the stranded goalkeeper Aidan Quinn.

Clonkeen’s Ben McEntee hit the post just before half-time and their prospects of a revival lifted eight minutes into the second half when Malahide defender Glen Daly was shown a straight red card following a tangle with Paul Moffatt.
