SCHOOLS RUGBY LEINSTER JUNIOR CUP/Terenure College 46 Newbridge College 7:HARRISON BREWER, the son of All Black Mike, was the name on everyone's lips for a virtuoso three-try performance as Terenure eased away from Newbridge in the Leinster Junior Cup quarter-final at Donnybrook yesterday.

It was all too easy for the holders from the moment centre Stephen O’Neill opened his account, posting a 12th-minute penalty when Newbridge went off their feet at a ruck.

Scrumhalf Gary Clarkin wielded a big influence. On foot of his delicate chip kick, ’Nure refused to leave the danger zone, prop Kevin Colgan planting a try midway through the half.

It was all Terenure. Their pack ate up the metres at the maul, their number eight Brewer a threat whenever he touched the ball. He strolled over from a quick recycle in the 25th minute.

Newbridge were flummoxed when O’Neill skipped around their defence for the third and Brewer stepped off his right foot for the fourth on the break.

It didn’t stop there. Brewer gathered a chip in traffic and had the strength to make the line. Replacement Jimmy McCormack converted his own five-pointer from an interception.

Neil O’Connor blasted between defenders for the seventh.

Newbridge pressed for some kind of consolation that eventually came from Mathew Madigan.
