Kerry SHC final/Kilmoyley 3-15 Causeway 2-9: Kilmoyley's domination of Kerry hurling continued yesterday as they collected their fourth championship title in as many years after a keenly-contested final at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.
Things looked bad for the champions in the 15th minute as John Mike Dooley grabbed a Fergus O'Carroll cross and crashed the ball to the Kilmoyley net and Dooley followed that score with a point to see Causeway lead by 1-4 to 0-1.
Kilmoyley kept their nerve and on 20 minutes Shane Brick rifled a free to the Causeway net.
Causeway led by 1-6 to 1-4 at half-time but Michael Regan closed the gap with an early second-half point, Causeway hit back when Dooley found Stephen Goggin who drilled the ball low to the Kilmoyley net.
Kilmoyley then introduced 41-year-old Christy Walsh who goaled with his first touch and two quick points from Brick and the veteran saw Kilmoyley take the lead.
In the 37th minute Kilmoyley were reduced to 14 men when Seán Fitzgerald was sent off.
Brick scored two more points while Walsh fired over another and then in the 58th minute Brick raced through the Causeway defence and scored a goal before adding two further points to ensure the victory.
