McKENNA CUP: Derry 0-13 Donegal 0-13EOGHAN BROWN kicked two late frees to earn Derry a share of the spoils in a tight game against Donegal at Dungiven yesterday.
Donegal, who had already qualified for the semi-finals, got off the mark when Kevin McMenamin kicked an early free but Derry started to look sharper and points from Enda Lynn and Séamus Bradley saw them edge in front.
Points from Brown, Séamus Bradley, Gavin McShane and Paul Carton for Derry and three points from Stephen Griffin and one from McMenamin made it 0-5 apiece after 27 minutes.
The closing minutes of the half saw Derry get on top as two points from Bradley and one from Lynn made it 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval.
Derry looked like registering their first win of the season as points from Brown and Lynn in response to a Griffin free stretched the lead to four.
In a 20-minute spell Donegal out-pointed Derry 0-7 to 0-1 for a 0-13 to 0-11 lead. But then came those two frees from Brown.
