How they got here: Finished ahead of Croatia and Belgium in Group 8 after getting off to a flying start with 2-0 wins over their main rivals. Slipped up subsequently, dropping points home and away to Estonia and getting beaten in Zagreb but a 2-2 draw in Brussels meant they held on to top spot.

Manager: Plamen Markov

Star turn: With five of his country's 13 goals in the qualifiers Dimitar Berbatov cemented his reputation as the side's outstanding player in attack. Often used as a lone striker the 23-year-old is also good at holding the ball up.

Prospects: Will be in the hunt for a place in the quarters. Hard working and full of spirit but whether those qualities are enough to get them past more talented rivals is doubtful.
