Kilkenny CBS 1-9 St Kieran's College 0-10:A FIRST-half goal from Eddie Burke proved to be the decisive score as Kilkenny CBS saw off their local rivals St Kieran's College and booked their place in the Leinster A senior hurling league final yesterday.

Burke found the net on 24 minutes, getting on the end of a Richie Doyle pass and drilling an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Thomas Byrne.

Oisín Walsh also added four points to leave the CBS five clear, 1-6 to 0-4, at the interval, Shay Butler grabbing a brace of frees for St Kieran's.

Two more points for Walsh stretched the CBS lead in the second half, but St Kieran's didn't go down without a fight. Led by the tireless midfielder James Gannon (0-4) and Butler they closed the gap to two points, but could not find the goal that would have snatched victory.
