KHAYRAWANI, who finished fourth in the Galway Hurdle for which he started second favourite, should show the benefit of that experience when he takes on his own age group in the feature event, the Listowel Lartigue Handicap Hurdle, this afternoon.

Having attempted to make most of the running at Galway, an ambitious task for a four year old with his fair share of weight, Khayrawani showed admirable fighting qualities when passed, staying on well to finish just over six lengths off the winner.

Before that effort, he had outclassed his field in a Killarney handicap, where he made most of the running. Similar tactics are almost certain to be employed on the Paddy Burke runner, and the Tralee winner, Reeves, and the bottom weight, Katiymann, may be the ones to challenge in the closing stages.

Vintage Escape, disqualified on her debut run at Gowran after beating Henrietta Street by a neck on soft ground, should be the right one in the opening Listowel Vintners and Garden Tavern New York Maiden. The Oxx newcomer, Oriane, is a filly by Nashwan and might be a threat.

Triptodicks was flattered by her closeness to Beakstown at Tramore, but she was still well clear of the rest of the field. The six year old may fight out the finish of the Sean Graham Handicap Chase with another lightweight, Fays Folly.

The European Union Handicap is a fairly ordinary contest and Jasmine Douglas, runner up to Eloquent Way over 1-0 furlongs at Clonmel earlier this month, is a hopeful choice.

Orange Grouse was having her first run of the season when running extremely well to be second to Helsingor at Tralee, with the rest of the field well behind. She is a confident choice to take the Brandon Hotel Maiden.
