With more than 15,000 journalists in Sydney for the Olympic Games, prostitutes can see the potential of plying their trade in the media village. Olympic security officials have launched an investigation into how three sex workers slipped their cordon to tout for business at $500 an hour.
The prostitutes were spied mingling with local and overseas media representatives at the village's 24-hour pub. Each wore a green guest pass attached to a "Sydney 2000" strap around their necks, which showed they had been authorised to access the village up until September 30th.
Prostitutes from all over Australia and as far afield as South Africa have flooded into Sydney to cash in on the Olympic trade, according to sex industry workers who have predicted Sydney's brothels will be "flat out".
