WHEN I was a young man, Drinklink was the name we gave to the hole in the wall of the bank which issued you with more money, in order to go and buy more booze in the pub. But, today, Drinklink has become a new postal service which allows you to send some hootch to a loved one by means of various Drinklink agents throughout the country.

Place an order before 1.30 p.m. Monday Saturday, and they promise same day delivery. The range of drinks they offer covers bubblies and sparklers, various spirits and cognacs, and a variety of wines. It isn't cheap - a simple bottle of that rather good Fortantde France Sauvignon Blanc will cost £15.84 to get to your loved one, but if you find yourself in a quandary and want to send someone good wishes, I reckon price won't be too much of an issue.
