EQUESTRIAN:Eilish Byrne claimed the first win for Ireland at the Austrian para-equestrian dressage fixture at Kreuttal yesterday, writes Grania Willis.

Dundalk-born Byrne scored 66 per cent for a narrow win with Youri in the Grade II division, holding off her nearest challenger by just over a quarter of one per cent.

Louise Bloomer is best of the Irish after the dressage phase in the one-star competition at the Tattersalls international three-day event in Co Meath.

The Wicklow rider is equal seventh with Starsplash. Fraser Duffy is still out in front going into today's cross country test.
