Patrician 2-5 Moyne 1-4: While Patrician, Newbridge, were the superior side, it took them quite some time to break down a stubborn Moyne outfit, who kept their opponents scoreless until the 16th minute of this Leinster Colleges Senior A Football Championship third-round qualifier at the Dromard grounds yesterday.

At that stage Patrician midfielder Peter Kelly grabbed a goal to leave the visitors leading by 1-0 to 0-2 after the Longford lads had hit the front with points from Shane Briody and Martin Brady.

While Paddy King pointed to leave the sides all square in the 23rd minute, Moyne went almost half an hour without scoring as the Newbridge side proceeded to establish a firm grip.

The killer blow was struck when corner forward Ray Cahill found the net with five minutes gone in the second half.

Patrician went on to establish a seven-point lead despite the dismissal of their centre half back Ricky Maguire for a second yellow-card offence in the 41st minute.

Moyne snatched a late consolation goal through John Sheridan but Patrician had done enough.
