If at first you don't succeed, then try again. Handicaps in fourball competitions will again be high on the agenda at the Leinster Branch annual general meeting at Westmanstown GC next Wednesday (November 21st). Having lost in the last three years in Leinster and at the GUI agm, Greystones GC will be bringing forward a motion that full handicaps be used in fourball competitons. Their motion reads "that this meeting calls on the GUI to formally advise all clubs that those playing in fourball competitions must, in future, be allowed to play off their full handicaps, and not a three-quarter allowance."

Another motion of interest in Leinster will come from Beaverstown GC who propose that "the GUI enter negotiations with the ILGU in order to agree arrangements that would not necessitate a three-tier golf club structure when implementing equality policy."

Athlone will be proposing a change in handicaps for the Irish Junior Cup at the Connacht agm, which reads "that the lowest handicap limit for participation in the Irish Junior Cup be four instead of the current handicap limit of five.

Meanwhile, Leinster will have a contest for places on the Provincial Council when eight - Mick Craddock (Malahide), John Ferriter (Castlewarden), Jimmy Greene (Grange), Mick McGinley (Naas), Dick Cusack (Greystones), Kiran Foley (Rush), John Joe Maher (Forrest Little) and Bill Slattery (Royal Dublin) - contest the seven places in the Metropolitan area.
