Gaelic Games News: The AIB provincial club player of the year awards have, as usual, gone in all cases to the provincial champions in football and hurling.
Seven of the eight title-holders are newcomers to this level, with Dunloy from Antrim the only club to have previously won their province.
Caltra's Micheál Meehan, who is battling to be fit for Sunday week's All-Ireland semi-final, gets the Connacht award. In Leinster, the accolade goes to St Brigid's Rory Gallagher, who has also been in the news recently with the Dublin County Board agonising over whether to invite the former Fermanagh player to join the county panel.
Elsewhere there will be little controversy in the awards for Tomás Ó Sé of An Gaeltacht and The Loup's Johnny McBride.
In hurling, Darren Quinn becomes the latest Dunloy player to be honoured, but the other clubs are experiencing this recognition for the first time.
Martin Comerford wins the Leinster award, fending off the competition from brother Andy, whose outstanding display in the provincial final when O'Loughlin Gaels deposed All-Ireland champions Birr earned him the Man of the Match nomination.
The Connacht award is the latest gong for Ollie Canning, who capped another high-performing year with Galway by captaining his club Portumna to provincial honours. Cork's Ben O'Connor rounds off the list after a consistently high-scoring contribution to Newtownshandrum's march to the county's first club provincial title in 16 years.
