CAMEROON revived their African Nations' Cup hopes with a thrilling 2-1 win over Egypt in a group A match last night. A stunning second half winner from Alphonse Tchami put the 1990 World Cup quarter finalists back in the competition after their 3-0 mauling by hosts South Africa in the opening game on Saturday.
Tchami, who plays for Boca Juniors in Argentina, broke away from the Egyptian defence and took a direct route at goal in the 59th minute to hammer a close range shot past Nader El Sayed.
The goal came against the run of play as Egypt were gaining the upperhand after trailing 1-0 at halftime.
Cameroon's captain Francois Omam Biyik scored the opening goal from the penalty spot after 36 minutes following a tug on Tchami by full back Yasser Radwan.
