St Gerard's - 15 Kilkenny College - 7:In-form place-kicker Shane Canavan landed five penalties to secure a Leinster Schools' Senior Cup tie win for St Gerard's yesterday.
He kicked two early opportunities as Kilkenny were held scoreless in the first half.
Kilkenny might have conceded a try before the interval but for a tackle by full back Tim Bergin on Mark Campbell. The winners extended their advantage to 9-0 before half-time when Canavan converted another penalty.
Kilkenny enjoyed territorial supremacy in the early stages of the second half and were rewarded when Joe Cooper crossed the line after a break by Gavin Thompson. Kilkenny almost scored near the end but the final pass to Thompson went into touch.
