Robbie Cannon claimed the first major prize of his amateur career when he captured the South of Ireland amateur championship at Lahinch earlier today. The Dubliner secured a 4 and 3 win over Gary O’Flaherty on the Old Course.
Cannon reached the turn three to the good, won another hole and the 14th and closed out the match on the 15th.
Earlier in the day, the Laytown & Bettystown man had overcome Eamon Haugh 2 and 1 in the semi-finals while O’Flaherty accounted for Pat Murray.
