A GOAL by centre forward Kevin Carey in the 52nd minute secured a first All Ireland Sehools senior hurling title for St Clement's of Limerick in the B decider at Nenagh yesterday.

Carey, one of two brothers of Limerick inter county star Ciaran on the St Clement's team, managed to block an attempted clearance by Roscrea keeper, John O'Brien, and was left with the simplest of tap-ins for the all important goal.

St Clement's conceded territorial advantage to the Cistercian College team in the first half but trailed by just one point, 0-7 to 0-6, at the break after playing against a stiff breeze.

The Limerick city school dominated possession in the third quarter but found the resolute Roscrea defence difficult to break down. However, they got their just reward with that Carey goal and despite the best efforts of the Roscrea team managed to hold out for the deserved victory.
