CARLOW bounced back from interval arrears of nine points to finish level after extra time in this semi final in Tullamore on Saturday. They were completely outplayed in the first half and trailed at the interval by 1-8 to 0-2. Longford's goal came from Philip O'Hara in the 19th minute.

Carlow were transformed by changes during the interval. James O'Toole sparked their revival with a goal after only two minutes, and although reduced to 14 men midway through the half, they had a second goal by Johnny Nevin, who scored the equalising point near the end of normal time.

In extra time Carlow went three points clear, but were overhauled.
