Carnew earn another go thanks to Murphy

Carnew (Wicklow) ... 0-8 Castletown (Laois) ... 2-2 Just 24 hours after winning the Wicklow title, Carnew journeyed to Portlaoise to take on fancied Castletown in the opening round of the Leinster club hurling championship.

Goals from Seamus Lyons and Paudge Cuddy earned the Laois champions a 2-1 to 0-5 interval lead. Joe Murphy was the hero of the hour for Carnew, however, when he scored three great points from frees to send the game to a replay next weekend.
