Cash Asmussen has been offered the ride on the dual Irish St Leger winner Oscar Schindler in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on October 5th. The French-based Texan came in for some criticism when a fast-finishing third on the Kevin Prendergast-trained horse in last year's Arc but has again been offered the ride by owner Ollie Lehane. Stephen Craine rode Oscar Schindler to victory in last Saturday's St Leger.

Jim Bolger will have a runner in this weekend's festival of British racing at Ascot when he sends Swift Gulliver for the seven-furlong Diadem Stakes on Saturday. Kevin Manning will ride the colt, who is stepping back from the furlongs of the Irish Champion Stakes when he ran down the field behind Pilsudski.

John Reid has been recruited by Godolphin to partner Predappio in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The jockey, successful in 1988 on the Italian colt Tony Bin, rode stablemate Swain to land the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

But he will be aboard Predappio, who defeated Pilsudski in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.
