Cassidy's test

Glentoran head off to Ballymena this afternoon determined to quell supporter unrest

Glentoran head off to Ballymena this afternoon determined to quell supporter unrest. There was an angry demonstration against manager Tommy Cassidy and chairman David Chick after their 4-1 midweek defeat by Omagh Town in the Gold Cup.

Chairman Chick has since publicly backed his manager and Cassidy aims to repay him by knocking Irish League Premier Division leaders Ballymena United off their perch at the Showgrounds.

"Obviously it is a big game for us and we are capable of winning it," he says. Cassidy could lose two of his teenage stars defender Colm Nixon and striker Andy Kirk. They are off on trial to Leeds United after the game.
