Castleknock booked their place in the next round with a comfortable win over Wilson's Hospital at Westmanstown. The first half was evenly matched but Castleknock upped the tempo after the break. Wilson's opened the scoring with out-half Matthew Ethell landing a 40-metre penalty. Fifteen minutes later, Castleknock snatched their first try when lock Philip Guckian, peeled off a ruck five metres out and dived over on the left.

While the margin was only 5-3 at the interval, Castleknock stretched their lead five minutes into the second half with Simon Crawford posting the first of three penalties. Then victory was sealed when blindside flanker Patrick Duffy received from a ruck near the Wilson's line to burrow over, with Crawford converting.
