Former team-mates, opponents and friends of Gaelic football legend Enda Colleran - right corner back on Team of the Century and Team of the Millennium - will gather in Co Galway this weekend to celebrate his life.

New GAA president Nickey Brennan will unveil a life-size bronze statue in Moylough of Colleran, two years after his sudden death at the age of 63.

Colleran was a key member of the famous three-in-a-row Galway team of 1964-66. Now many of the players who lined out alongside him are to come together to remember the school teacher. The bronze statue has been sculpted by Colleran's former pupil John Coll.

"Enda was extremely popular all over Ireland, and beyond. He was a complete gentleman and one of the greatest players ever to play Gaelic football," said former team-mate Joe Conway.

Several special events will reflect Colleran's abiding interest in fitness, personal health and coaching, commencing on Friday, April 28th, with the Enda Colleran Sports and Health Forum at 8pm. The panel of expert speakers will comprise Tyrone manager Mickey Harte, former Cork hurling manager Donal O'Grady, Professor Niall Moyna, and Irish Triple Crown manager Eddie O'Sullivan, who lives in Moylough.

"The forum is open to all who have an interest in these topics. We have a very busy programme of events planned that will celebrate the life of Enda, who is missed so much by all of us," added Conway.

Three-in-a-row goalkeeper Johnny Geraghty will deliver a special tribute to Colleran.
